Tara Miele is a screenwriter/director who recently created the viral video MEET A MUSLIM in order to combat Islamophobia. The video, which has been shared around the world, was featured on Refinery 29, E Weekly, Buzz Feed, UpWorthy, HuffPo, and aired on VH1/Logo’s Trailblazers Awards show. To date, the video has over 30 million views.
As a writer, Tara has sold projects to Lionsgate, Screen Gems, New Line, Gold Circle Films, and Disney Channel. In addition, Tara has directed four feature films, including the psychological thriller, THINSPIRATION, starring Laura Slade Wiggins and Callie Thorne. The film tackles eating disorders in a startling new way. Tara also directed the independent psychological drama THE LOST BOY starring Academy Award nominee Virginia Madsen.
Tara’s work has been archived at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science’s Margaret Herrick Library and her award-winning films have screened around the world, most notably at Slamdance and SXSW. Her first feature, THE LAKE EFFECT, which she wrote and directed while 7 months pregnant, won top honors at Moondance, Jacksonville and Phoenix film festivals and earned her a spot on Raindance Film Festival’s “Top Ten American Indie Directors to Watch.”
Currently, Tara is attached to direct MARGRET AND SAMMY, a biopic about Margret Rey, co-creator of Curious George, penned by SIMPSONS writer Stephanie Gillis and produced by SIMPSONS Producer Al Jean.
A graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara, Tara currently resides in Los Angeles with her talented husband and two amazing daughters. A member of the DGA and the WGA, she is repped by Jen Ray at Heroes and Villians and WME.
