Zack Kaplan grew up as a Jewish fish-out-of-water in the Baptist Bible Belt of North Florida. There, he found a love of all things movies, TV, comics and video games. Storytelling came naturally, and he followed that passion by studying theatrical playwriting at GWU. He ultimately earned a Masters in Screenwriting from USC.
Afterwards, he lived for a year in the Philippines, teaching screenwriting/film at the International Academy of Film & TV and writing film and TV projects for Bigfoot Entertainment. Upon returning stateside, he spent his days helping students prep their college apps and his nights dealing poker at Hollywood Park Casino.
Then, his feature film spec THE GREAT TRAIN ADVENTURE with writing partner Graham Funke hit the town as a hot spec and a Final Draft Big Break finalist. He went on to collaborated on the feature film adaptation of the 1980s hit anime show THE MYSTERIOUS CITIES OF GOLD with director Raphael Benoliel and industry-renowned story consultant Michael Hauge. Currently, Zack is fulfilling a life-long dream and writing his first comic book, ECLIPSE, a sci-fi thriller with Top Comic Productions. He is also pitching TV projects with TV writing partner Graham Funke. Zack loves world-building concepts that connect to universal human dilemmas and explore thoughtful commentary on society.
He is also a new father.
